Caledonia teammates meet on NFL gridiron
Klug, Fruechte – Titans, Vikings on Thursday night
Caledonia High School is tiny, with an enrollment of 343. Yet, somehow, two players are currently on NFL rosters.
at 7 p.m. Thursday, those two will meet, maybe even on the field, when Karl Klug and the Tennessee Titans host Isaac Fruechte and the Minnesota Vikings.
Klug, a 2006 graduate, who – don’t mention this to him – never won state for the Warriors, is entering his fifth season with the Titans.
Fruechte, a 2010 Caledonia graduate, may mention to Klug before Thursday’s matchup that he did win state titles in 2007 and 2008 in Caledonia.
Fruechte has survived the first waive of cuts by the Vikings and is still trying to make the team’s 53-man roster.
Fruechte, who actually will not mention winning state titles to Klug, in fear the 6-foot-3, 278-pound defensive tackle crushes him during the game, has three catches for 28 yards so far for the Vikings.
Klug, who re-signed for two years, $3.7 million, has 14.5 career sacks, including 7 his rookie season.
