Jaguars owner suggests Green Bay will be the 2016 opponent

It looks like the Green Bay Packers could be headed to London in 2016.

Maybe.

That prospect, however, is based on a couple of assumptions from a blurb in a Florida Times-Union article.

The column presumes Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Khan will announce another agreement that his team play one home game a year in London – an announcement that will come on Oct. 25.

It also assumes that first London game will be against the Packers, though the NFL schedule for the upcoming season isn’t released until around April prior to that season. The last two years, the London games were announced in November, so a July announcement is quite a few months before last year’s official word from the NFL.

But, if true, the Packers could have a hiccup in their midseason schedule, though history may not suggest that – and they’d be playing the Jaguars.

Teams have been playing in London at Wembley Stadium since 2007 and those games have always been followed by a bye.

In the 22 games coming off that bye, the team that played in London is 12-9-1, though the point-differential suggests teams are nearly .500. Teams have averaged 23.4 points coming off the bye after the London trip and given up 23.5.

Here is a list of the London games and the results of those teams following their trips overseas:
