Brewers take high schooler with 15th pick
Trenton Clark could become five-tool player
The Milwaukee Brewers take outfielder Trenton Clark of Richlad High School (Texas) in with the 15th pick of the MLB draft Monday.
The left-handed batting Clark was rated the 12th-best prospect by MLB.com. He’s been compared to a wide range of players from Rickey Henderson to Vernon Wells.
The 6-foot, 200-pounder is a centerfield prospect. He hit .555 with a .696 on-base percentage with two home runs (63 at-bats) at Richland. In the 18-and-under Pan-American Championships, Clark set a single-season team record with 24 RBI in 12 games. Clark had an RBI single that won the gold medal against Cuba.

With the 40th pick in the draft, Milwaukee went with left-handed pitcher Nathan Kirby out of the University of Virginia.
He was the top lefty in the class heading into 2015, but had a drop in velocity, lost command and suffered a lat strain in April that caused him to fall to the Brewers.
The 6-2, 200-pound Kirby came out of the bullpen in 2013 for the Cavaliers. He was their ace in 2014. That season, he struck out 75 and walked 30 in 59 1/3 innings with a 2.28 ERA.
His fastball was around 94 mph, but fell to 89-91 this spring.
