WIAA D1 State: Kohlwey sweeps hurdles championships
Holmen senior wins 300 and 100 hurdles
Heading into the Division 1 WIAA state track and field finals Saturday, Danielle Kohlwey had one mission. Actually, the Holmen High School senior had two missions: Win the 100-meter hurdles and win the 300 hurdles.
Mission accomplished. Kohlwey won both events Saturday at UW-La Crosse – the first girl to sweep both hurdles events since 2008.
The Minnesota-Duluth recruit easily won the 100 hurdles – an event she’s qualified in every year of high school – with a 14.85-second finish.
And Kohlwey kicked her way to a 300 hurdles win with a 44.44 – an event she had qualified in the last two seasons.
Ironically, Kohlwey set school records at state last year in the events. She finished third in the 100 hurdles (14.37) and second in the 300 (44.33).
