Logan softball headed to state
Central falls in the most heartbreaking fashion
WAUNAKEE, Wis. – For the first time since 2005, the Logan High School softball team is headed to state.
Jordyn Kleman struck out 11 in leading the top-ranked Rangers to a 5-1 win over Baldwin-Woodville.
At 8 p.m. on June 11, Logan (26-1) heads to the Division 2 state tournament in Madison to face last year’s runners-up, seventh-ranked New London (25-5).
The Rangers already defeated last year’s state champions, Mosinee, 2-1 in the sectional semifinals.
DIVISION 1
Deforest 8, Central 7
MEDFORD, Wis. – It couldn’t have been a more heartbreaking loss. With a three-run lead and one out away from a state berth for the Red Raiders, Deforest hit a grand slam to win it.
Central couldn’t tie it in the bottom of the seventh and finished its season 19-9. Deforest improved to 21-9.
DIVISION 4
Both Cashton and Cochrane Fountain City lost in the sectional finals. Cashton finished its season 25-2 after losing 4-3 to Juda/Albany (23-4).
C-FC ended its season 21-5 with a 4-2 loss to McDonell Central (21-5).
