Another match, another sweep for the University of Wisconsin volleyball team.

Lauren Carlini had 33 assists, 13 digs and three block-assists in leading the Badgers to the 3-0 sweep of Illinois State, 25-17, 25-19, 25-19 on Friday in front of 5,313 fans the UW Field House.

“We’re really appreciative of the crowd that came out both these nights,” Wisconsin coach Kelly Sheffield said. “I think we doubled the attendance from what there was last year and they’re into it.”

Wisconsin, the NCAA runners-up last season, moves onto the Sweet 16 on Dec. 12 at the KFC Center in Louisville, Ken., and will play either Ohio State or 14th-ranked Kentucky, which play Saturday. 

The Badgers (30-2), who have won 21 matches in a row, got seven or more kills from five players led by Kelli Bates with 10. She also added 10 digs. Taylor Morey led Wisconsin with 22 dig.

The Badgers’ hitting percentage was .240 with 40 kills and 11 errors. Illinois State had 38 kills, 20 errors and hit .131.

Wisconsin swept Ohio St. (22-11) on Sept. 28. Kentucky (27-5) has won nine of its last 10.
