WIAA FB: Bakalars carries Logan
He rushed for over 200 yards. He scored three rushing touchdowns. He ran another back on a kickoff. And he threw one just for good measure.
The only thing Logan High School senior Kyle Bakalars didn’t do after the WIAA Division 3 second-round win over New Richmond last Friday was drive the bus home. That’s because he didn’t have to, as the Rangers took care of business at home on Swanson field with a 59-27 victory.
And that’s where the Rangers will be again Friday, up against Rice Lake (8-3) and a chance at the final four in Division 3.
Bakalars finished with 234 yards on 19 carries. His touchdown pass came in the third quarter – a 20-yarder to Dakota Horton – and his 84-yard kick return all but sealed it at the end of the third quarter.
It was 20-0 Rangers after the first quarter. New Richmond (8-3) pulled within 32-21 midway through the third, but back-to-back touchdowns by Bakalars and Horton – on a 42-yard pass from Trey Davis – shut the door once again.
Logan amassed 457 yards of offense and three different players threw touchdowns – John Case being the third. He hit Aric Elmore for a 21-yard TD in the first quarter.
