Blum intermin AD, UW-L search begins in ’15
Kim Blum will take over as interim athletic director at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
AD Josh Whitman, who took over at UW-L in 2010, is leaving July 3 to run the athletic dept. at Washington U., a Division III school in St. Louis. Blum, coming off her first year as deputy director of athletics at UW-L, will begin thereafter. A national search for a full-time athletic director will begin in early 2015.
As deputy AD, Blum’s main responsibility was to manage the business operations and athletic program’s $3 million budget. She also advises Whitman on all aspects of the athletics program – strategic planning, personnel, facilities, and resource development – as well as being the program’s chief compliance officer, responsible for certifying student-athlete eligibility and monitoring compliance with the NCAA and WIAC rules and regulations.
Blum had served as associate AD for nine years.
