Pierzina wins it, House the hero for Logan

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – Tanner Pierzina’s floater from 13 feet at the buzzer in overtime won it for the La Crosse Logan High School boys basketball team on Friday night.

Pierzina winds up the hero, scoring 21 for the Rangers in the 65-63 win over Eau Claire North, but it was Preston House that came up big – twice.

House’s offensive rebound set up Pierzina’s winning shot. House also tied the game with 5.9 second remaining in regulation going 1-for-2 from the free-throw line.

CENTRAL 105, CHIPPEWA FALLS 61

CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. – Yup, they scored over 100 points, doing most of that damage with a 32-point second quarter.

Kobe King scored 29, Ethan Haberman had 15 and Alex Hayden added 14 for Central (3-0).

Chippewa Falls (1-2) was down 53-41 at halftime before being outscored 27-9 in the third.

WEST SALEM 59, VIROQUA 41
WEST SALEM, Wis. – Baily Williams was 10-for-15 from the field – 4-for-7 from beyond the arc – in scoring 27 points to lead West Salem.

Williams, a 6-foot-2 junior, added 10 rebounds, two steals, two assists and a block for the Panthers (5-1, 2-0 Coulee).
West Salem was up 22-14 at halftime, but Viroqua (0-5, 0-2 Coulee) went on an 18-13 run to pull within thee after the third quarter.

The Panthers, however, put it away with a 24-9 run in the fourth.

ONALASKA LUTHER 63, WESTBY 41
ONALASKA, Wis. – Five players scored in double figures for Luther led by Marshall Walters’ 14 points.

Collin Kennedy scored 11, while teammates TJ Babinec, Michaeal Pamperin and Aaron Schaper all added 10. Schaper also had 10 rebounds for the Knights (4-0, 1-0).

Westby got 13 points apiece from Tanner Schmitt and Alex Robson, who went just 2-for-11 from the field, but 8-for-9 from the line.

The Norsemen (2-1, 1-1) shot just 32 percent (17-53) from the field. Luther shot 48 percent (25-52).

LA CROSSE, Wis. – Central forced 21 turnovers, but couldn’t turn those into points, going just 11 of 51 from the field

Memorial’s Allie Biermeier was the only player in double figures with 12 points.

Central (2-1) was down 23-12 at halftime to Memorial (1-0).
