Bronson Koenig scored what will be one of many career highs for the University of Wisconsin men’s basketball team Thursday night.
The freshman from La Crosse had 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting, including 2-for-3 from beyond the arc in the 88-64 win over Bowling Green.
“Just look at his production,” Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan said of Koenig, who is now 9-for-12 on the season and 4-for-5 3-point 
range. “Defensively, a couple times he got exposed, but it’s not like the other guys aren’t getting exposed at times. He’s learning to adjust to college. He’s producing. He’s a player.”
Koenig also had three rebounds, two assists and two turnovers in 27 minutes, the fourth-most minutes of any Badger.
The 6-foot-3 Koenig made his impact immediately after checking in with 15:36 to go in the first half. He assisted Traevon Jackson on a 3-pointer. Three possessions later, he hit a 3 himself, then scored on another jumper to break an 18-18 tie.
Guards Ben Brust (36 minutes) scored 19, Jackson (31) had 13 and Josh Gasser (29) had 11 for Wisconsin (5-0), which shot 55 percent, including 12-for-20 from beyond the arc.
Sam Decker and Frank Kaminsky, who set the school record with 43 points last game, both scored 14.
Wisconsin was up 23-22 with 8:23 remaining in the first quarter before closing out the half on a 21-6 run. The Badgers held Bowling Green (1-2) to just 44-percent shooting.
Viterbo 89, Martin Luther (Minn.) 77
Cole Lewis didn’t miss.
Eleven shots up, 11 shots down, including three 3-pointers.
The 6-foot-6, Prairie du Chien, Wis., senior scored 26 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in leading the Viterbo University.
David Shepard wasn’t too shabby either for the V-Hawks. The 6-6 freshman was 8-for-13 and 3-for-4 from beyond the arc in scoring 23 to go along with five rebounds and three assists.
Viterbo (5-2) was up 45-31 at halftime and had 19 assists on its 34 field goals. The V-Hawks shot 52 percent from the field, including 6-for-12 from deep.
Luke Rothe scored 18 on just 6-of-14 and had 10 reboudns for Martin Luther (0-3).
Women’s basketball
Martin Luther 77, Viterbo 72
Poor shooting led to another loss for Viterbo, which went just 29-for-74 (39 percent) from the field, including 6-for-28 from beyond the arc.
Sami Weaver had 15 rebounds and Jenna Engh scored 34 points, but she was just 12-for-32 from the field and 3-for-13 from deep for the V-Hawks (1-5).
Alex Anthon scored 29 points on 9-of-12 shooting for Martin Luther (1-3), which shot 27-for-60 from the field (45 percent).
