NORTHFIELD, MINN. – Winona Senior High School has a lot of tradition when it comes to cross country.

Garrett Heath and Elliott Heath were state champions all over the place – cross country, skiing, track … maybe even juggling if it were a sanctioned sport – the two went on to be All-Americans at Stanford and are now competing at the Olympic level.

Jon-Michael Brandt followed in their footsteps and is now a senior at the University of Iowa.

Next in line, Hunter Bailey. The junior is making his third appearance in the state meet, which begins at 10 a.m. with the Class 2A girls at St. Olaf and 11 a.m. with the boys.

On the girls side, Winona sophomore Caitlin Domeyer makes her second trip in a row. As a freshman, she finished the 4,000-meter course in 15:29.8.
