Logan senior wins triple jump, Onalaska’s Glynn takes silver in discus

Friday, Logan High School’s Aric Elmore was a quarter inch from a state championship.

The senior finished second in the long jump at the Division 1 WIAA state track and field meet at UW-La Crosse.

In Saturday’s finals, Elmore had a chance at redemption in the triple jump, but heading into his final attempt, it looked as though he was going to finish with another runner-up.

Instead, Elmore saved his best for last with a 46-foot, 7-inch mark and a state title. Elmore had finished fourth in the event the previous two years and came into the meet seeded third.

Coming in second was Waukesha South’s Elijah Pitchford (46-4.25), while Tomah senior Collin Eswein finished fourth (44-5.75).

GLYNN

In his first-ever state meet, Onalaska sophomore Austin Glynn came away with a second-place finish in the discus. Glynn threw a 177-11, and had little shot of overtaking Bay Port’s Cole Van Lanen, who threw a 183-8.
