CROSS COUNTRY: Logan boys, Aquinas and Onalaska girls headed to state

The WIAA state cross country meet will be filled with athletes from the Coulee region.

On the boys side, Logan, Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau and Onalaska Luther are all sending teams in their respective divisions.

Westby senior Hayden Fredrickson won the Division 2 sectional in Westby, Wis., where Logan and G-E-T qualified as teams.

Arcadia senior Ramon Romero was third and West Salem freshman Charlie McKinney was fourth. All head to Saturday’s state meet in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.

On the girls side, Onalaska, Prairie du Chien, Westby, Cashton and Aquinas will all go as teams.

Aquinas won the Division 3, Durand sectional.

In Division 1, Onalaska, which took second in the Menomonie sectional led by Kora Malecek’s second-place finish, is made up entirely of freshmen.

G-E-T junior Dana Feyen won the Division 2 sectional. 

With four runners in the Top 9, Prairie du Chien’s girls won their Division 2 sectional for the first time since 1976.
