UW and Aquinas standout will play for G-League’s Wisconsin Herd

La Crosse native Bronson Koenig is officially a member of the Milwaukee Bucks … and Wisconsin Herd.

The undrafted rookie from the University of Wisconsin signed a two-way contract with Milwaukee. That allows the team to bring Koenig up from the G-league Wisconsin Herd team, that was just created and will play in Oshkosh, Wis.

“It means a lot. It means everythign staying in my home state of Wisconsin,” Koenig said during a practice for NBA Summer League at UNLV.

The 2013 Aquinas High School graduate started all four seasons for the Badgers, helping the team get to the Final Four in 2014 and 2015.

Last year, Koenig set a single-season UW record with 103 3-pointers made and finished the school’s all-time leader with 270.

NBA rules permit teams to have two two-way players on their roster at any given time, in addition to their 15-man regular-season roster.

A two-way player can spend up to 45 days with the NBA franchise, not including any time prior to the start of the G-league training camp and at the conclusion of the season.

Koenig is set to compete for the Bucks entry in the MGM Resorts NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.
